Introduction

Mt. Raung is part of the Ijen mountain range, located in the easternmost region of Java Island. These volcanic mountains span four regencies in East Java: Bondowoso, Jember, Situbondo, and Banyuwangi. Mt. Raung is widely known for offering one of the most challenging trekking experiences in Java, due to the absence of water sources along the trail and the technical climbing skills required to reach its true summit.

The highest peak of Mt. Raung stands at 3,332 meters above sea level. There are two popular trekking routes: – The first is via Sumber Wringin, Bondowoso – The second is via Kalibaru, Jember

Only the Kalibaru route leads to the true summit (Puncak Sejati), which requires rope-assisted technical climbing. The Sumber Wringin route, featured in this tour, leads to the Tusuk Gigi peak—an excellent viewpoint overlooking Mt. Raung’s spectacular caldera. This route does not require rope climbing, making it suitable for experienced hikers without technical mountaineering skills.
